Lafayette, Colorado – WOW! Children’s Museum (World of Wonder) today announced upcoming events and programs at the Museum for the month of May. Unless otherwise noted, all listed events and programs are included with Museum admission.
“Lei Day” Hula Performance – Sunday, May 1st
Celebrate Lei Day (May Day in Hawaii) with a special hula performance by Keaka O Kalani I Na Mauna, a hula and Polynesian dance school in Boulder. The school’s mission is to pass on the aloha spirit as well as an appreciation for Hawaiian and Polynesian dance, language and culture. This special program is part of the “WOW! Goes Around the World” series, sponsored by Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission and is included with Museum admission.
Mountain Kids Story Time – Every Thursday at Noon
Miss Kristin from Mountain Kids will host a fun weekly story time with bubbles, short stories and a sing-a-long with shakers. This active and engaging story time will make reading fun for young learners! Included with Museum admission.
Get Growing! Garden Program – Thursday, May 5th
Join the farmers from Ollin Farms for our first garden program of the season! Learn what plants need to grow and lend a helping hand to pull weeds, till the soil and plant veggies in our garden. Garden program activities are included with Museum admission.
Toddlerpalooza! – Saturday, May 7th
Join WOW! as we celebrate all things toddler! Toddler geared activities include marble painting in the Art Room, Kidsong music program, snacks provided by Happy Family, and special appearances by Popsicle the SCFD Polar Bear and Captain Bula of the Zula Patrol. All Toddlerpalooza activities are included with Museum admission!
Integral Steps Presents Music & Movement – Friday, May 13th
High energy, exciting and fun, this program allows children to dance and play through a combination of music, movement, biology, and art! This special program is presented by Emma Shubin of Integral Steps and is included with Museum admission.
Sensory Friendly Playtime – Sunday, May 15th
Sensory Friendly Playtime is a special Museum event for children with autism spectrum or sensory processing disorders. WOW! will limit admission to 20 families, turn down sounds and lights, and provide adaptive equipment to offer a safe and fun experience for all! Reservations are required and space is limited. Investigating Dinosaurs Exhibit – Opening Tuesday, May 17th
In the return of the Investigating Dinosaurs exhibit, young visitors can become Junior Paleontologists and explore how we know what we know about dinosaurs. How do we know what dinosaurs looked like, how they walked or where they lived? Within five interactive stations, children will have the opportunity to uncover a dinosaur fossil, puzzle together a dinosaur skeleton, compare your footprints to a dinosaur print, create a landscape for dinosaurs to live in and make a dinosaur rubbing. This engaging exhibit provides many ways for children to use critical thinking skills such as analyzing evidence and logical reasoning, as well as open-ended imaginative play.
