Summer Classes

Check out all the fun-filled, hands-on science and art classes happening at WOW! this summer. Registration begins on Friday April 25.

Class Fees: $12 per class; $10 per class for WOW! Members; free for accompanying adults.  Member information will be cross-checked with our Member database. You must register your child in advance to guarantee a space! All registration is online via credit card. To register, click on the class time shown in blue to take you to the registration website. To register for more than one class, you may have to return to this page.

Stay & Play Discount: Explore the Museum for only $7 before or after class! Simply pay the discounted admission fee when you check in for class.

Refund Policy: WOW! will issue a credit to a future class if student is unable to attend class.  WOW! will only refund class fee if the Museum cancels a class.

Please Note: Adults must accompany all children 3-5 years old.

 

Make a Clay Pot!

  • Ages 3-5 years old (with a guardian)
  • Tuesday, July 8 at 3:00-3:45

Make a small clay pinch pot. Learn to mix your own salt dough, then build a pinch pot with the help of a WOW! Art Guide. Create one-of-a-kind paintable clay masterpieces! This is a messy art class, so please dress appropriately.

Science of Ice Cream #1

  • Ages 3-8 years old (ages 3-5 years old must be with a guardian)
  • Two classes on Wednesday, July 9 at 10:30-11:15 and 1:00-1:45

Learn about liquids and solids while making ice cream, then eat your yummy results! If your child has food allergies, please notify the Museum when you register.

Create a Self-Portrait!

  • Students who start grades K-3 this Fall
  • Tuesday, July 15 at 3:00-4:15

We look at ourselves in the mirror every day, but drawing a self-portrait can still be tricky! Study the proportions of the face, then learn to draw and paint a self-portrait. We will use a variety of pigments, including wet paint, so please dress for mess!

Jewelry Making Class!

  • Students who start grades 2-3 this Fall
  • Tuesday, July 22 at 3:00-4:00

Make your own survival bracelet with parachute cord! Become a pro at tying a square knot. This weaving technique can be adjusted and combined with beads to create beautiful, inexpensive jewelry all year long. The possibilities are endless!

Romping Stomping Dinosaurs

  • Ages 3-5 years old (with a guardian): Thursday, July 31 at 10:30-11:15
  • Students who start grades K-1 this Fall: Thursday, July 31 at 1:00-2:00

Learn about different types of dinosaurs and the characteristics that make each one special. See and touch fossils; compare them to each other and to modern animals. Make a dinosaur of your own to take home.

Automaton Makers: Create a Moving Sculpture

  • Students who start grades 2-3 this Fall
  • Tuesday, August 5 at 2:00-3:00.

Make a sculpture using a variety of materials and then design and construct a mechanism to put the sculpture in motion.   Possible ideas include a bird in flight, a spider climbing a web, or a bee sipping from a flower. Bring your imagination and decide what you will build!

  • Two classes on Wednesday, August 13 at 10:30-11:15 and 1:00-1:45
